Eli L. Thomssen
Eli is a seasoned business and pharmaceutical professional who has spent his entire career in the life science field. He started his career with the animal health division of The Upjohn Company, which became Pharmacia & Upjohn and was eventually purchased Pfizer. Pfizer set up a separate animal health company that became Zoetis. While at Pharmacia & Upjohn, Eli held a variety of marketing and administrative positions including sales management, product management, productions planning, distribution, and customer services. When Eli left Pharmacia & Upjohn Animal Health he was Vice President, Business Development and Strategic Planning. This position was responsible for all M&A and technology in-licensing activities.
After leaving Pharmacia & Upjohn he was a founding partner of the Apjohn Group. Apjohn was founded to start life science companies, and he has been involved in varying degrees with starting five different companies.
Eli was a founding member of the Ka-Zoo Angels, an angel investment group affiliated with the Michigan Capital Network. He has also severed on several boards including the Michigan Maritime Museum.
Eli has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Nebraska and a MBA from Western Michigan University.
